I agree it is frustrating when our government fails to demand accountability from those who were responsible for the lockdown, including all the personal and financial damage that occurred, not to mention the ineffective and dangerous inoculations that were forced on so many people. I am even more frustrated that US citizens, fail to hold politicians accountable for allowing and/or facilitating these disasters. Ultimately we end up with the government we deserve.
Our country and states need more informed, articulate leaders like stellar Senator Rand Paul. Thank you, great column! Right now there are two overwhelming mental illnesses in this country: Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and Covid Derangement Syndrome (CDS). They overlap somewhat, of course. But CDS is the more complex and insidious. TDS people are just plain lazy and stupid. They think of themselves as idealists for Democracy. But they're lower than ordinary virtue signalers - those Santa Barbara people, for example, who see fit to move here and then complain about the lack of diversity and even lecture you about how Black Lives Matter and how they are fighting against White Supremacy. People with TDS go further: they're virtue signalers bursting with vitriol. How moral they are to abuse and berate other people publicly simply because someone mentions there's no evidence of Trump doing any of the things he's being lawfared for.
But people with Covid Derangement Syndrome, not the monsters who lead us into Covid and made billions while gaining tyrannical control, but the civilians who believe that anyone who questions Fauci or the vax establishment is evil - those people are to be pitied. These are damaged souls who want to do everything right, but are too sheepish to figure out how. People who got vaxed and boosted to the max. Who masked up. Who isolated themselves from friends and family members who criticized or refused any of the Covid mandates. Who thought lockdowns were all that could save us. They did everything right. And if you do everything correctly you're rewarded for saving the world by never getting sick again, let alone remaining a mere mortal. It's no wonder they don't want to think they are actually just duped suckers and want those of us who questioned to be suitably punished so they don't have to be.
